The Grand Hyatt San Francisco is no longer grand.

As a native Bay Arear, I always try to stay at Union Square when visiting the city.

The large resort lacked the grandeur I expected throughout my visit due to an inexplicable absence of guests and lousy service.

At about $150 per night, the hotel delivered certain attractive amenities.

Especially for budget-conscious tourists. I spent two nights at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco.

As one of San Francisco's largest hotels, the 697-room Hyatt opened in 1972.

Despite extensive restorations, the Grand Hyatt felt dated.

When compared to its brighter, more modern competitors.
