U.S. Airlines Drop Mask Order After Federal Court Decision

After a federal judge in Florida threw out the federal transportation mask law on Monday, all major US airlines abandoned the requirement.

Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle had earlier determined the federal mask mandate "violates the procedures required for agency rulemaking."

However, the CDC "continues to urge that persons wear masks in indoor public transit settings at this time."

The Transportation Security Administration said after her ruling.

As the CDC continues to analyse an increase in COVID-19 cases due to a novel omicron subvariant, BA.2, the mandate was just extended until May 3.

However, airlines quickly updated their policy. United Airlines was among the first to eliminate masks on domestic and international flights.

"While this means our workers are no longer required to wear masks – and no longer have to enforce a mask requirement for majority of the travelling public.
